Web Design
Information, Education, Entertainment....all ways we use the Internet in the modern era. We will also be learning useful information about web design characteristics and distribution methods. This type of knowledge and skill can be useful in many different fields of study including communications, marketing, and others. Whether you're an aspiring web designer or just hoping to figure out a way to make your Facebook page better, web design is a valuable skill in the modern era.
The software we will be learning to create web pages is Dreamweaver. It is a WYSIWYG (What You See Is What You Get) program that is drag and drop visually, but can also be used to code your site. It works seamlessly with other Adobe programs, like Photoshop. We will be practicing some very useful tools and features that will help you create amazing web sites. However, we will only be learning a small representation of what this software is fully capable of doing.

Projects
We will begin by completing projects that focus on developing the fundamentals of graphic design as you explore and figure out Adobe Photoshop. As the semester progresses, we will learn and practice more advanced techniques and become proficient users of the software. At the end of the unit, you will amazed at the works of art you have created!
You will find project descriptions and constraints, the files necessary to complete each project, and how you will be submitting your finished works of art.
Web Design combines all of the types of digital media we've covered so far this semester. Graphic design is important to visually arrange the content on your site. Animation, audio, and video are all components that add user interactivity and impressive embedded features to a website to help take it to the next level. There are many different approaches to web design - each one having its own set of advantages and disadvantages. We will begin by learning basic image mapping by adding links to a highly-designed image that will be made in Photoshop. Then we will learn image mapping using a WYSIWYG program and create a stunningly attractive website that will showcase all of the skills you've learned in Digital Media.

Build Your Own Website
Go to www.weebly.com and create an account using your school email address.
Create a Site.
Choose a Theme. (The pictures in the theme must be replaced with pictures of your own.)
You will use a Subdomain of Weebly.com.
Use your First and Last as the subdomain (http://ashleymangum.weebly.com) You may need to add a middle initial if your name is already taken.
Click Continue.
When you click continue a video will come up. Watch the video.
Click on Plan my site. The website will walk you through some steps to help you organize your pages. Fill all of this info in and watch the videos on each step and mark each step complete.
Then begin to build your website.
In addition to a Home page, you should have a page for Graphics, Animations, Audio and Video Production.
On each page you should upload each of your projects along with an adequate write-up and title for each one.
Use appropriate design techniques to make each page INTERESTING!!! (I will be able to tell if you simply drag and drop your projects onto each page. BORING!!!)
At the top right corner of the site you will see icons for desktop view and mobile view. Make sure check out the mobile view of your site.
When you are finished Click Publish to make your site public.
On the class website, click on Turn in Project and copy and paste a link to your site to send to me.
